MARINE SCIENCE IN INDIA

We explore the field of natural and social sciences with an  emphasis on issues of sustainable development in the marine and coastal realms, encouraging students to reflect upon the conflicting demands of society and environment. The core courses on this semester are Islands and Reef Ecosystems, Field Methods in Marine Science, Uplands and Estuaries, Coastal Management, Introduction to Marine Geographical Information Systems with optional courses in Culture, Class and Gender in Coastal Management & Art as Sustainable Development.

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN INDIA

Students visit several  organisations and institutes, interacting with people from diverse backgrounds in order to understand the cultural and historical perspectives that shape contemporary India’s views on issues related to society and development. Students are encouraged to examine the implications of these belief systems on sustainable development, resource management and community well-being by discussing associated challenges and potential solutions. Courses include Sustainable Resource Management, Heart of India, Art as Sustainable Development and, Culture, Class & Gender with the optional course of Island and Reef Ecosystems.
